Monday 20 May 2019

Dear REE community,

We are happy to publish the conference program for 2019! Thank you for sending your full papers to us over the course of the last weeks. Based on your papers, we have planned the session structure for the conference, and as organiser team, we tried our best to accommodate your requests. Please remember that the Rethinking conference series is grounded in its openness to new developments in ethnographic research, and thrives on an atmosphere where we mutually inspire and develop our understanding of ethnography. To develop our understanding of ethnography, the conference relies on the joint discussion of conference papers. This means that we encourage you to take some time to read the conference papers. In case you are very busy, please look at the papers and decide which papers you will read with priority.

Please remember our conference website contains practical information on arrival, transport, a contact telephone number, and a map with conference locations. You are welcome to contact us at ree2019@uni-graz.at in case you have questions regarding the conference.

We look forward to see you in Graz!
Clemens, for the conference organizer team

Review results announced, registration opened

Dear REE community,
Reviews of the submissions to the Rethinking Educational Ethnography 2019 Conference have now been finalised, and want to thank everybody who sent an abstract for their submission. We are happy to let you know the amount of abstracts this year significantly exceeded the amount of sessions we planned for, and we look forward to a series of interesting sessions with a high quality  of discussion and feedback.

Registration is now open for all participants, and we look forward to your registration until 3 May 2019. To register, you can use our conference email address ree2019@uni-graz.at. Please also remember that the conference fee should be transferred to the University of Graz bank account. Information about payment and accommodation options can be found on the respective tab on the website. In case you need a formal letter of acceptance for your institution, or if you have further questions, please contact us through our email address.

Preparing a full paper is the next step for presenters towards the Rethinking Educational Ethnography Conference. Full papers are the basis for the discussion in our conference sessions. A full paper should contain a minimum of 2000 words, including a section that points out themes that for discussion and feedback. The full paper is shared among conference participants prior to the conference. At the conference, presenters will have 10 minutes time to remind participants of the most important points of their paper, followed by 30 minutes reserved for discussion and feedback. Please keep in mind that full papers should be submitted by 3 May 2019. Presenters can opt to revise and expand your full paper after the conference, and be part of an edited volume within the Springer Doing Higher Education series.

Call for Papers announced

We are happy to announce the Call for Papers of the Rethinking Educational Ethnography Conference 2019. The theme of the conference is Ethnography in Higher Education. We look forward to receiving papers that focus on ethnographic studies on higher education contexts, teaching ethnography in higher education, and innovations in ethnographic methods. The conference will be held from June 6-7, 2019 at University of Graz in the southeast of Austria.

Conference Culture
We aim to create an atmosphere that welcomes innovation, and where experienced and inexperienced researchers have the opportunity to meet, talk and socialize. All papers will be circulated before the conference through the conference website, to enable 40 minute sessions that focus on a discussion of research findings, methods and issues related to each paper.

Abstract Submission
Abstracts of up to 400 words should be submitted to ree2019@uni-graz.at, using the template on the conference website. Authors will be notified of paper acceptance by 27th February 2019. The abstract should include sections on main points, fieldwork methods, analytical methods, and conclusions. Registration for the conference and a copy of your paper are due on 03rd May 2019.
